ClipperCreek has begun offering its 32 Amp, Level 2 electric vehicle charging station, the HCS-40, in a new “Ruggedized” version, according to an email sent to CleanTechnica and EV Obsession.
The new ruggedized versions of the HCS-40 (the HCS-40R and HCS-40PR) feature an over-molded connector (watertight, and made of corrosion-resistant rubber), a field-replaceable connector latch, and a 5-year warranty.
The email provides further information and specifics:
The HCS-40R and HCS-40PR (with NEMA 6-50 or 14-50 plugs), feature a rubber overmolded SAE-J1772TM connector, a field-replaceable connector latch, and a five year warranty. The HCS-40R and HCS-40PR are affordable solutions designed for fleet, parking lot, and extreme weather conditions. The Ruggedized option is offered at an excellent value of $100 in addition to the affordable base price of $565 for the hardwired HCS-40 and $589 for the plug-in HCS-40P.
“As the market matures, we have found that the electric vehicle connector can take a real beating in some environments,” commented Jason France, President and Founder of ClipperCreek. “Our commitment to the electric vehicle market drives us to bring the greatest value to our customers. Customers have asked for an even tougher connector option. In response, we developed a new overmolded connector with a replaceable latch. We stand behind this connector’s durability by pairing it with a 5 year product warranty.”
