What is the resolution for an “Auburn Green New Deal”?
The Auburn Green New Deal Resolution is a call for Auburn’s city assets to utilize 100% renewable energy by 2025 and for the entire city to become carbon neutral by 2030. This marks a major step forward in the fight against climate change, outlining a bold solution that matches the scale and urgency of the crisis we face. You can view the text of the resolution here.
A meeting was held October 17th a meeting at Nancy’s Cafe to discuss the resolution and to call for support for local community members. The meeting consisted of several guest speakers: Anthony Haddad, Joey Renner, Jessica Dixon and Will Barrett from ClipperCreek.
The resolution is set to appear before the City Council sometime this winter. The group called for community volunteers to get local residents to sign a petition in support of the resolution demonstrating widespread support for fighting climate change.
There are several volunteer canvassing days planned for local events in Auburn this fall. Dates are below. If you are interested in volunteering at one of these scheduled events below sign up here.
